Illustration Rally:
Yiunam Leung is one of those illustrators who can use the pared down approach that fashion illustration is known for, he does it with an eye for detail and a sense of composition that sets his work out as something special. Yiunam pays great attention to the faces of his subjects which mean they lock eyes with the viewer and hold your gaze. He has a gentle touch with skilled brushwork that gives his work that translucency of traditional Chinese art that make his figures float. He uses this technique to great effect adding flow and movement that is the hallmark of good fashion illustration. the combination of intense faces and flowing faded figures give his work a ghost like quality that allows him to infer more and leave out clutter or confusing elements, part of his skill lies in how successfully he can omit parts of his figures whilst still keeping the integrity of the image. Combining detail and lightness Yiunam has a refreshing style and is one to watch for the future.
Zeum Magazine:
When we at Zeum asked fashion illustrator Yiunam Leung to describe his works to us, using only three words, he replied: “raw, organic and expressive”, and we couldn’t agree more! The beauty, and stirring and spontaneous quality about his pieces is as plain as day, as is his obvious love of both art and fashion. So far his immense creativity has led him to both produce his own art, and start his own business [called Rings and Tings]! And we cannot wait to see what he will do next!
